Blik Dry-Erase

This Is

A fun and scrappy 15 second stop-motion interstitial I shot and edited with hand-drawn animation components to advertise Blik's colorful line of dry-erase boards.

A Thrifty Phone Shoot at Blik's Los Angeles Design Studio

Armed with a simple storyboard and the stated goal of shooting a stylized stop-motion ad in an under-2-hour design downbeat, I set up a sequence of horizontal and vertical markers using a marked trail of painters tape in tandem with a broken tripod which I crudely adhered to a standard tape measurer. Lucky for me, the staggered rhythm and un-polished feel of the manual stop-motion style we were targeting was fairly forgiving for editing my less-than-perfect panning trajectory in post.

With approximately 240 still photos in hand, I got to work cobbling them into sequence and hand-drawing the "doodles" that danced over-top in a kind of stop-motion frame-animation hybrid meant to evoke the note-keeping possibilities of these dry-erase boards. I think it came out real cute.
